Inico Technologies Ltd. was founded in 2007 with the objective of offering truly innovative solutions to the industrial sector based on the latest information and communication technologies. Based on the findings of several R&D projects across Europe and North America, Inico's first innovation has been the introduction of the S1000 - a smart RTU, capable of monitoring and controlling I/O and instrumentation systems, and capable of integrating to a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
Based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, within a growing hi-tech community and booming petro-chemical industry, Inico began licensing SOA-based software for plant monitoring in 2007, and selling Web Service-enabled RTUs in 2008. 2008 also saw the beginning of OEM licensing of its embedded software platform. The company also started offering engineering support services and training in the latter half of 2008, helping industrial companies who are in the migration process from legacy software architectures to SOA and Web Services.
In 2009, introduced it's Web-based HMI system. This system, which is embedded into the existing Web-based hardware such as the S1000 Smart RTU, renders real-time HMI pages at the source of the process controll or data acquisition itself. A single device is able to control a process and offer a Web-based operator interface, without need for additional HMI hardware.
2010 marked the year that Inico started marketing it's Wireless product range. The wireless product offer began with the W1-Z add-on module for the S1000 Smart RTU, and continued with the introduction of a portfolio of general-purpose wireless I/O devices and application-specific wireless sensors.
In 2011 and 2012, the wireless product range was significantly refined and expanded to include WiFi, Cellular, and 6LowPAN network support.
